Back to School Shopping Online
August 15, 2008 ShoppingBack to School Shopping is in Full Swing
I’m one of those weird people that likes to go back-to-school shopping. Maybe it’s the opportunity to buy more pens, of which I have plenty already. Or it’s the way everything is organized — meticulously organized in rows like classroom chairs. Here’s a roundup of some great sites to check out for back-to-school supplies, from the cute to the cheap and beyond.

Paper is sooooo last semester. Get with the times and buy a laptop for studying, emailing, playing and the rest. The 15-inch Sony Vaio NR430 is well priced at $699, with an appealing design, high battery life and great performance.

If you’re a purist, buy these eco-friendly recycled pencils from Green Apple School Supply. These Japanese writing instruments are made from cedar wood scraps and come in a recycled box. Save the earth and your midterm by never running out of lead in the middle of bubbling in your Scantron.

This crazy kaleidoscopic colored messenger bag is made of recycled trash from Indonesia, but light enough to not feel bulky and tough enough to lug around the heaviest of history books.
Another cute and cool Japanese design, the Kaiten Sushi journal from designer Tokidoki will make a statement when you jot down notes, thoughts, musings and doodlings in that really, REALLY boring astronomy lecture.
When all else fails, head to Target, where you can stock up on inexpensive, never-fail school supplies: post-it notes, composition books, highlighters.
