Cheap Dorm and Apartment Furniture
July 18, 2008 StyleCheap Dorm and Apartment Goods from Closing Store
Pssst….now that Linens N Things is closing over 200 of its stores, some of you maybe be out of a job. For the rest of us, this can only mean one thing: shopping!!
Buying dorm room and apartment furniture and accessories for cheap is getting increasingly harder. Sure, there’s always IKEA…and I like said, there will always be IKEA. Your dorm is probably gonna look like everyone else’s but, here’s some cool stuff you can pick up at Linen’s N Things, all within a reasonable price range so you won’t break the bank moving in to your new digs.

This Wamsutta Expressions 8-piece bedding kit is not only practical but cute. For $99, it’s a total steal. If you’re not into the green/pink combo, there are other versions.

Save yourself that $4 a pop on Starbucks fancy schmancy coffee and get someone to give you some decent medium roast as a parting gift. The Black & Decker SmartBrew 12 Cup Digital Coffee Maker is $19.99 and will keep you, your roommate, your roommate’s signficant other and their study buddies up all night when you’re cramming for that Ancient Rome final.

News flash: dorms don’t really do air conditioning, even in the hottest of places. Why? You’re there mainly in the winter, right? But global warming is sneaking up on all of us. For $29.99, the Holmes® Blizzard® Remote Control Table Fan sits perfectly atop your desk, cooling you off on steamy nights.

The $19.99 Flex Organizer Lamp lights up your work space, comes in four colors and has compartments in the lamp to keep essential pens and notepads on hand while you…study…yeah, that’s it…

Rugs dress up a room immediately, and these vibrant options will make your place stand out faster than the same freakin’ Scarface poster adorning every college room (I don’t care how cool Pacino is, I’m sick of it!) They’re only $14.99 to $24.99 a pop, which means you can buy in multiple to make your room pop with color.
There are plenty of more options to choose from when it comes to buying dorm and apartment supplies, and this topic will surely be revisited in the coming months. For now though, go scour and scavenge your local Linens N Things while it’s still around and stock up on cheap stuff. Keep in mind that the other stuff on sale is good for the future — if you see silverware, towels, vacuum cleaners and the like drastically reduced in price, snatch it up before it’s too late.
