Hair Styles of Age

Have you ever looked back at pictures of hair styles in the 70s or 80s or pretty much any decade and thought to yourself, “What were these people thinking?” However, trendy hair styles come and go and at the time, everyone thought the styles of their time looked great. People who didn’t part their hair down the middle in the seventies or didn’t perm their hair in the eighties were fashion criminals.

What is a Staycation?
Among the many things Canada has introduced to America (or been responsible for, depending on your tastes) are an appreciation for hockey, maple syrup, Bryan Adams and Celine Dion. A recent integration of Canadian culture has been the clever portmanteau, “staycation.”
The term was coined by Canadian comedian Brent Butt, and refers to the act of, basically, vacationing in your own backyard.

At last, someone has finally thought of grandma when designing computer comfort accessories. No longer will she shake in the frigid cold while either hitting up her MySpace account or buying vinyls on EBay.
Yet another line has been crossed when it comes to ridiculous gadgets. USB plugs have been converted to electrical outlets for powering coffee warmers, slippers, gloves and even kneepads. Now this… I wanna know who gave the go-ahead on the USB shawl.
We may soon have to upgrade to 56-port usb hubs to accommodate all these wonderful little inventions. I mean, when you’re reaching for your memory stick at work and realize your shawl and leg warmers are taking up all your ports, is it really worth it to suffer the cold for those few minutes?
I guess what really upsets me is that this shawl isn’t Bluetooth compatible. Maybe we have that to look forward to in the 2.0 version…

Nowadays the rich and famous are spending top dollar making their mansions more energy-efficient, their cars more fuel-efficient, and their overall image a bit more green. Over the past few years, environmentalism has developed into more than a fad and awareness has contributed to a one trillion dollar market. While celebrities and other more affluent individuals have access to the more expensive of these technologies, the average person can’t afford a complete home makeover to make their home a bit more sustainable.

Shoe Buckles Add Cuteness to Any Pair

Back in ye olde days of yore, ladies would pin different kinds of shoe buckles to their otherwise plain footwear. Not buckles like a Pilgrim, but adornments for the Victorian era set and beyond (think of Audrey Hepburn’s flats). Today, this tradition has died out in favor of buying multiple pairs of expensive, albeit exquisite, shoes.
Jewelry designer Erica Weiner has had enough of our frivolous spending on $800 Louboutins. Instead, she’s brought back the concept of the shoe buckle. For $25, you can choose from silver bows, navy rosettes and tortoiseshell shapes designed for heels, flats and more. The neutral shades makes these wearable with practically any outfit while adding a dose of much needed hardware, femininity or bling to your outfit. Simply snap on the detachable buckle and you have a whole new pair of shoes. Mix and match the multiple options, and your “matching bag” options have suddenly grown.
By the way, the site also sells vintage necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings to go with your “new” shoes. Now you can mix a little bit of ye olde style with something a bit more, dare we say, modern.

There are few outfit options that can easily be dressed up and dressed down.
One of the best solutions for this is the Kimono look. Go for the three-quarter-length silky shirt with some type of floral pattern and throw it on over your favorite pair of dark-denim jeans. Want to dress up your look? Match it with a pair of heels and gold hoop earrings. To dress down the look, put on some flats and a solid-color headband. Either way, you’re good to go.

I’ll be the first to admit that Juicy can go a little overboard on the branding, but when I saw the Juicy Couture Boyshorts packaged as both cupcake and lollipop look-like sets, I must admit, I thought it was pretty cute. Perfect for this gift-giving season, these would make for the perfect Secret-Santa gift (given the right audience, of course).
Juicy Couture Cupcake Couture Boyshort Set

This set comes in three pastels: pink, green, and yellow, all with the ‘Cupcake Couture’ logo and elastic waste. You can buy these now at Saks Fifth Avenue for $45.00.
Juicy Couture Lollipop Boyshort Set
The Lollipop-packaged boyshorts are packaged in cellophane on a stick, an read
either “Live for Sugar,” “Keep Me Sweet,” or “Eat Candy.” These can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue as well, but for $18.00.

Such a huge advance in technical fashion difficulties and yet no modern technology needed! After purchasing a new pair of pants, all of us girls have to struggle with that defining decision: to hem or not to hem. This is usually decided by predicting whether we will be wearing heels with these pants or flats. Wouldn’t it just be dandy if we could wear both and not have to choose one or the other? Well, now we can.
Zakkerz.com has found the solution to a temporary pant hem. These magnetic strips allow for pants to be worn with heels and flats… and for only $24.00! I’m not sure how we have gone this long without such a genius invention, but do all woman-kind a favor and pass this along!

Lululemon Athletica is the latest athletic apparel boutique for the ‘yoga-type’. It is definitely one of those brands that so strongly adheres to its core values and beliefs that it attracts the average eye. It also is gaining huge popularity in the work-out-with-style genre. In addition to being trendy however, Lululemon makes some of the most comfortable articles of clothing I’ve ever encountered.
To recommend a few must-haves…
The Deep V Bra with Pockets sports bra is something that every girl should own. It is the most comfortable sports bra out there. Plus it comes with a pocket for your iPod shuffle ;-).

My other favorite pick is the Reverse Groove Pant. Flattering waste line, comfy material, a hint of color–you’ll definitely get your groove on in these stretchy bad boys. The best part is that they are reversible, so it’s like buying two pairs of pants for one.
Lululemon is a great brand, and has some of the best products for their targeted demographic out there. It truly is more than a brand, it is a lifestyle.

With the Winter season approaching and the more UGGs I see out and about, I would like to hold a brief seminar on the appropriate and inappropriate ways to wear your UGG boots in public. In the privacy of your own home–when all doors and windows are shut–then by all means, be as f-UGG-ly as you wish. While in the presence of another human or anything with a pulse however, please be courteous and abide by the following stylistic recommendations:
1. No Gray and No Ballet.
PLEASE stick to the original UGG colors… sand, chocolate, chestnut, and black. This does NOT include carpet gray, sorry Lindsay. Also, please don’t wear them coming out of your ballet class. And if you do, remember to keep your tutu on. There is just too much white trash…err, I mean white…in this picture.
2. Not at the Beach
Come on now, this just looks silly…
3. Not with Shorts or Short Skirts of Any Kind…

I know a lot of people may argue this, but come on now.. really? If you are cold enough to wear boots lined with fur, why on earth are you wearing short shorts or a short skirt anyway?
Put on some pants.. stop confusing your homeostasis..

4. If Low UGGs.. Do Not Wear Over Jeans. No Fo-Fur.
The short Uggs really shouldn’t be worn over jeans. It appears as though you are trying to cover up kankles. Please refrain. Also, I don’t even know where these fo-fur Uggs were spawned from, but I wish they would return to their planet.
These are just a few examples of how NOT to wear your UGG boots this Winter. If you would like to see an inspirational example of a tasteful and adorable display of Uggs… check out Kate Moss’s daughter Lila… now this little fashionista has got it down! (Picture brought to you by People Magazine online).
