Looking for the Dog of Your Dreams?

Travel No Comments

Some of us are only missing one thing in life. And this one thing is a dog. Everyone always says that the minute they leave college and move out on their own, they’re going to get a dog. Well this is a lovely idea in theory, but let me tell you, it is no easy task trying to find an apartment in LA that allows pets. Don’t let this discourage you however. Never give up on your dreams!

People will try to tell you that your lifestyle isn’t “suitable” for taking care of a dog. Well now you can tell those haters that you will just find a dog that has the same lifestyle as you. I’m not necessarily talking about looking like your dog (I know you are all thinking about that scene at the beginning of ‘101 Dalmations’ when the dog walkers match their dogs). I’m talking more about having similar personalities, life styles, goals, hobbies, etc. Ok maybe not goals.. but you know what I mean. Anyway, check out BestDOG! and find the dog of your dreams!

Glowing Power Cable - Support a Bright Future

Gadgets & Gismos, Tech No Comments

Power-Aware Chord

Now here’s something that not only looks cool, but is doing something good for the environment–definitely a product of our generation.

This Power-Aware cable measures the amount of energy being used by the intensity of the glowing. The idea behind the glow-in-the-dark power cable is that if we can actually see how much energy we’re consuming, maybe we’d opt to be a little more conscious when choosing to leave our devices on all night.

Hmm putting our wasteful habits out there in the open where it is hard to ignore instead of hiding it behind a couch…interesting thought…

Magnetic Temporary Hems - Your Pant Problem is Solved!

Style, Trend Setter No Comments

Such a huge advance in technical fashion difficulties and yet no modern technology needed! After purchasing a new pair of pants, all of us girls have to struggle with that defining decision: to hem or not to hem. This is usually decided by predicting whether we will be wearing heels with these pants or flats. Wouldn’t it just be dandy if we could wear both and not have to choose one or the other? Well, now we can.

Zakkerz.com has found the solution to a temporary pant hem. These magnetic strips allow for pants to be worn with heels and flats… and for only $24.00! I’m not sure how we have gone this long without such a genius invention, but do all woman-kind a favor and pass this along!

Wondering how to avoid all the holiday shopping crowds this year? Black Friday is so two years ago… the new thing is Cyber Monday. The Lululemon Lifestyle

Lululemon

Lululemon Athletica is the latest athletic apparel boutique for the ‘yoga-type’. It is definitely one of those brands that so strongly adheres to its core values and beliefs that it attracts the average eye. It also is gaining huge popularity in the work-out-with-style genre. In addition to being trendy however, Lululemon makes some of the most comfortable articles of clothing I’ve ever encountered.

To recommend a few must-haves…

Lululemon Sports BraThe Deep V Bra with Pockets sports bra is something that every girl should own. It is the most comfortable sports bra out there. Plus it comes with a pocket for your iPod shuffle ;-).

Lululemon Reverse Groove Pants

My other favorite pick is the Reverse Groove Pant. Flattering waste line, comfy material, a hint of color–you’ll definitely get your groove on in these stretchy bad boys. The best part is that they are reversible, so it’s like buying two pairs of pants for one.

Lululemon is a great brand, and has some of the best products for their targeted demographic out there. It truly is more than a brand, it is a lifestyle.

How NOT to Wear UGGs

Feature, Style, Trend Stopper No Comments

With the Winter season approaching and the more UGGs I see out and about, I would like to hold a brief seminar on the appropriate and inappropriate ways to wear your UGG boots in public. In the privacy of your own home–when all doors and windows are shut–then by all means, be as f-UGG-ly as you wish. While in the presence of another human or anything with a pulse however, please be courteous and abide by the following stylistic recommendations:

Lindsay Lohan in Uggs1. No Gray and No Ballet.
PLEASE stick to the original UGG colors… sand, chocolate, chestnut, and black. This does NOT include carpet gray, sorry Lindsay. Also, please don’t wear them coming out of your ballet class. And if you do, remember to keep your tutu on. There is just too much white trash…err, I mean white…in this picture.

Baywatch Uggs2. Not at the Beach
Come on now, this just looks silly…

3. Not with Shorts or Short Skirts of Any Kind…

Skirt with UggsShorts with UGGs

I know a lot of people may argue this, but come on now.. really? If you are cold enough to wear boots lined with fur, why on earth are you wearing short shorts or a short skirt anyway?

Put on some pants.. stop confusing your homeostasis..

Furry Uggs

4. If Low UGGs.. Do Not Wear Over Jeans. No Fo-Fur.
The short Uggs really shouldn’t be worn over jeans. It appears as though you are trying to cover up kankles. Please refrain. Also, I don’t even know where these fo-fur Uggs were spawned from, but I wish they would return to their planet.

These are just a few examples of how NOT to wear your UGG boots this Winter. If you would like to see an inspirational example of a tasteful and adorable display of Uggs… check out Kate Moss’s daughter Lila… now this little fashionista has got it down! iPod Video Goggles

Gadgets & Gismos, Tech No Comments

Ever think those Star Trek glasses would become stylish and trendy? Ya, me neither. So when I saw what I’m about to bring to your attention, naturally I was more than impressed. Virtual video goggles for your video iPod. Ohh yes.

iPod Virtual Goggles

Plug these babies directly into your iPod and see a projected 24 inch screen in front of you. No batteries, cables, or bulk. These virtual goggles just feed off of the power from your iPod. They don’t get very hungry however, seeing as though a 30-gig iPod lasts longer than two hours.

You can wear these inside or outside, literally taking your favorite videos, tv shows, and music videos everywhere with you.

MyVu Solo Plus Edition iPod Goggles If you want to step it up, go for the MyVu Solo Plus Edition Goggles. At only $199.95, the Solo Plus Edition works with the whole iPod collection: video iPod, iPod touch, iPod nano, iPod classic, and all the 5th generation video iPods. These also can be charged with a polymer battery, which steps up your viewing pleasure to four hours!

Style is important… but in this case, I think we’ll make an exception!

Wii or PS3?

Tech Clash 1 Comment

Wii vs. PS3

With Christmas rapidly approaching, many will have to make a crucial decision – Playstation 3 or Wii? These are two vastly different video game systems, so it all boils down to what type of gamer you are. Some people want to sit on the couch and veg out; others want to feel like they are part of the action. Whatever the case may be, these two systems offer distinctly different kinds of gameplay.

If you are the kind of person who doesn’t like to sit around lazily and play video games, then the Wii is the way to go. The wireless “controllers” are basically like 3D motion sensors which can sense how fast and in what direction you are moving the controller. The Wii turns games, especially sports ones like tennis, into more of an activity than a sluggish way to kill time. Instead of merely hitting a sequence of buttons on a typical controller, you have to physically swing the controller like a tennis racket. It’s hard not to move your feet and step into each swing like you would if you were in an actual tennis match, and I’ve seen even fit people work up a little sweat after a few games. This kind of action appeals to a much broader range of people, as anyone from children to adults – regardless of how good you are at “normal” video games – can pick up a Wii controller and have a great time.

While the Wii may offer remarkably active involvement, those who enjoy amazing gameplay and incredible graphics cannot shy away from the Playstation 3. This thing can even play Blu-Ray DVDs, which in case you aren’t familiar are basically high definition DVDs that can play in 1080p (if you are still completely clueless what this means, you need to go buy a new TV). The most realistic commercial video game system around, the PS3 is downright amazing. Even when playing online – which in older systems used to a rough experience because of how much lag there – you can barely notice a difference in gameplay. The graphics in sports games are so good that you can see sweat beading down players’ foreheads. Plus, unlike the Wii, the PS3 is actually consistently available in stores. They’ve even been so kind as to offer a 40GB version now, which starts at $399.

Here is a great diagram from The Onion to help analyze this great debate further:
